You’re floating outside the space station when your fellow astronaut tosses you a cold bottle of mineral water?

It’s outside your space suit but you open it anyway. When you open it, the water immediately starts to boil. Why?

I just bought a bottle of Arrowhead’s sparkling water and I assumed it was another name for mineral water. But then I looked it up online and I guess they’re not the same?? Can someone explain to me the difference, or if it’s the same? Thanks

Frances Taylor asked:
When was the last time that you visited the doctor for a health check? Are you keeping your body in good order?
It’s a fact that most of us don’t drink enough but one of the easiest ways to stay in good health is to drink more water. That prompts the question - is drinking mineral water healthy?
It is well known that all the water that is found on earth contains minerals. These minerals are naturally occurring substances that are formed during a natural geologic process which have a specific physical property and characteristic chemical composition. So, just how do these minerals help us?
Mineral Water Facts
Natural mineral water H20 is different from boiled water because it includes a certain level of minerals. These elements usually come out from the ground.
There are no additional minerals added to this water. Mineral water is defined as water that contains large amounts of dissolved gases or minerals. This water that comes from natural springs generally includes a high content of magnesium sulfate, calcium carbonate, sodium sulfate and potassium.
The good news is that if you drink mineral water healthy bodies are an almost inevitable result. Why is this?
Consuming Mineral Water
Of course we are all different and we all have differing needs. Nevertheless, we all have the same basic needs as far as minerals are concerned.
There are two ways that you can obtain the minerals. You can either eat them or drink them. Your body then uses them to keep you in good health. If your diet lacks minerals then you will eventually get sick.
The quickest and easiest way to obtain what you need is by drinking good old plain mineral water.
Minerals are essential to maintain a healthy human body. If the drinking water lacks these minerals then your body would get them from other sources within your body. This can leave your body cells depleted.
Experts recommend that you do not drink demineralized or distilled water on a regular basis. When you do so it can be bad for the digestive system and can also lead to mineral deficiency in your body.
To decide if mineral water healthy for your body then you will have find out what exactly is in the water.
However as it has a number of nutritional properties for your body, such water should be considered very healthy. Apart from this you should be aware that removal of these minerals or lack of these minerals in water could also make you sick.
Still not convinced that mineral water is healthy and worth drinking?
Getting Mineral Water
The major problem with bottled water is that it’s so heavy and difficult to transport from the store. Where can you get an unlimited supply of natural mineral water H2O?
Some people choose to install a residential reverse osmosis system. This works by forcing the water through a porous membrane. In this the size of the pores would determine which substances flow and which get blocked.
The problem is that minerals generally tend to be larger molecules and so the reverse osmosis method can actually reduce or block the mineral content in the water to even nothing.
A better option would be a filter system. Most often known as selective filtration, this method takes out the contaminants but leaves the trace minerals in the water. This method is very cost effective, much cheaper than buying bottled water. You have access to an almost unlimited supply of great tasting, chemical free water for cooking, drinking, bathing and other water needs.
So there you have it. The answer to the question is drinking mineral water healthy? Absolutely yes.

Gordon Hall asked:
Because there are supposedly so many mineral water benefits, I spent quite a bit of time looking for supportive research.
I also spent some time evaluating the new mineral revitalization water purification systems. Here’s what I learned.
Throughout history, people have believed that mineral water benefits the health of the human body in many different ways.
Health spas, resort towns and entire cities were built around hot springs and mineral-rich wells.
The history of mineral revitalization water purification systems is not so long.
The original idea began due to the need to re-mineralize after desalination by major treatment plants.
Drinking de-mineralized or distilled is bad for your digestive system and may lead to nutritional deficiencies.
Several different studies have shown this to be true.
Others have shown that a balanced trace-mineral content has antioxidant affects within the human body.
So, when it comes to something to drink, there are true mineral water benefits, but do you need to buy an expensive system.
The phrase mineral revitalization water purification systems may apply to a number of different units on the market today.
Some are worth the investment, but others are probably a waste.
First, there are the kinds that use either reverse osmosis or other methods to remove all of the naturally occurring trace minerals.
As a second step, they try to “revitalize” it by running it over “rare stones” or by some other method.
Well, what occurs in nature is great.
Sometimes, the content may be too high and cause “hard-water” problems.
But, generally, all of the mineral water benefits to human health may be obtained by drinking from a system that uses an ion exchange stage to “balance” the content, not remove it all together, not to “revitalize” it or but simply to balance it.
In that way, the water is softened, but still healthy for human consumption. Plus, the taste is better than what you get from some of those other units.
Supposedly, the expensive mineral revitalization water purification systems “imbue” your water with anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
There is no scientific evidence to support these claims.
It is true that bathing in a hot spring relieves aches and pains, particularly those that are commonly associated with arthritis.
It is also true that in years past, people with a variety of health problems were sent to the springs to “take the cure”.
But, the scientific community believes that the mineral water benefits reported over the years were probably due to poor dietary factors, the soothing affect of relaxing in a hot bath, the lack of general cleanliness in past societies and perhaps an increase in fluid intake.
Not specifically mineral water benefits, but more like indirect benefits of visiting the spas.
Could mineral revitalization water purification systems allow you to create a spa in your own bathroom?
That’s difficult to say.
It is safe to say that you do not need a system with expensive Japanese rocks or wasteful reverse osmosis.
You only need one that provides a clean, chlorine-free shower with a trace of minerals and a balanced pH level.
You can have mineral water benefits without always drinking out of a bottle or installing an expensive system.
The most effective products are reasonably priced and actually save you money over buying bottled.
