Bob Goodhand asked:

Are you sick and tired of hearing how bottled water is so much healthier because of this and that? To enjoy true mineral water benefits try using the new mineral revitalization water purification systems in your home instead of opting for bottled H20.

People believe that bottled is their only option to obtain mineral water benefits, but with the advent of the mineral revitalization water purification systems that’s simply not true anymore.

So what you’re telling me is that these new mineral revitalization water purification systems produce better tasting and healthier water than bottled? We’re not necessarily saying that it’s better than bottled H20, but it is every bit equal, more convenient, and can be enjoyed at only a fraction of the cost.

We understand that a lot of people don’t want to go through the hassle of installing a countertop filter system in their home. Bottled water is available everywhere that you look. It’s simply more convenient than going the filter route. Before you make your final decision on the subject though, there are a few things that you should know.

Have you ever heard of a little thing called Benzine? It’s a colorless flammable liquid obtained through the distillation of petroleum. They utilize it in the manufacturing of many industrial chemical products, including detergents, insecticides, and motor fuels.

Isn’t this article supposed to be about mineral water benefits? Bear with me and you’ll see where I’m going with this.

A health department official decided a few years back that it would be a fun idea to run some tests on bottled H20 to show water treatment specialists what pure water was supposed to look like. The official chose a bottle of Perrier as the subject for the test. When the results came back, the Perrier contained benzene levels 15 times the regulatory limit.

15 times more than allowed? What does that mean? Well, the FDA regulations allow for certain levels of dangerous chemicals in bottled water. It’s nothing but purified tap water in a pretty package, and tap water contains all sorts of chemicals.

By using mineral revitalization water purification systems you can guarantee the purity of your water. The bottlers don’t want you to think that you have any other options. They want you to believe that they are the only source for pure water, and yet they can’t even honestly deliver on that promise.

If you want to enjoy true mineral water benefits, without the needless risk, then mineral revitalization water purification systems are without a doubt the answer for you.

The concepts that the filter utilizes are based on the process used in desalinization plants. In this process, salt and other minerals are removed from the water by use of a reverse osmosis or RO filter system. The water is then run through a second process which re-mineralizes it.

There are reverse osmosis revitalization water purification systems available on the market, but they are far too expensive and don’t work as well as some other models. For true mineral water benefits look for a model which features an ion exchange unit, which will keep the trace minerals in appropriate balance.

Hard Water Expert asked:

Soft water is basically free of dissolved calcium or magnesium. Only a small percentage of homes are supplied with naturally soft water. However, since naturally soft water usually has not been neutralized by passing through mineral layers in the ground, it can be quite corrosive.

Softening water mechanically, such as with a home water softener, does not make it corrosive, however. Since calcium and magnesium are not present in soft water, no adverse reaction with soaps and detergents is allowed to occur.

The result is the virtual elimination of soap scum and the corresponding reduction in time spent cleaning. Hair and skin is allowed to “breathe” more readily.

And the School of Consumer & Family Sciences at Purdue University conducted a study which proved that the life of clothing and household textiles was prolonged up to 15 percent when they were washed in conditioned water.

Soap usage can be significantly reduced with soft water. Since the water is already soft, the cleaning agents do not have any hardness minerals to react with and overcome and lather more readily and work more effectively.

In fact, a large proportion of the ingredients in most soaps and detergents consist of chemical “water softeners” added to stop the reaction between the detergent and the hardness minerals present in most water (the reaction that forms a sticky residue or soap curd).

Since such chemicals are not necessary for cleaning with soft water, less soap is required. Soft water households usually experience considerable savings on laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent, bath soap, hand soap, shampoo and many other cleaning products.

Since soft water contains no scale forming minerals, it leaves the inside of plumbing and water-using appliances free of solidified rock.

Appliances operate more efficiently and last longer when using soft water, and of course soft water does not cause any of those unpleasant hard water stains.

Olivia Romero asked:

Have you heard this saying before: “Garbage in, garbage out? Or how about, “You are what you eat? Well, I’m making up a new saying: “You are what you drink!” Our bodies are made up of 70% water and require an adequate intake of water to insure our health. But not just any water. Natural, mineral water, h20! Nature designed us to be mineral water healthy.

You may be wondering why this is so important. Well, our very existence relies upon the body’s ability to make use of minerals. When we are mineral water healthy, the body can use these natural occurring substances to carry important signals to the body’s cells.

Calcium is needed for heart function, muscle movement, nerve impulses and, healthy teeth and bones. Magnesium is important for major organ function such as the liver. This important mineral also plays a part in the transfer of inter cellular water, maintaining the body’s alkaline balance, and neuromuscular function. Potassium is used by cell membranes to transmit nerve impulses, as well as, to regulate heart rhythm.

With all the focus on environmental pollution over the years, the demand for clean, contaminant-free water has continued to grow. However, it has only been recently that the focus has now turned to acquiring clean, HEALTHY, water. This means that people understand the need for natural mineral water h20. In their efforts to become mineral water healthy, consumers have invested in home water purification systems that, unfortunately, strip out important minerals that naturally occur in fresh water. This defeats the purpose of producing healthy water.

Distillation and reverse osmosis are popular water treatment systems that are used in the home but were initially developed for an industrial application that required mineral-free water. Since both systems got rid of a majority of dangerous chemical contaminants, it was felt that they were appropriate for residential use. It wasn’t until much later that the dangers of drinking demineralized water were made known to the public. Among the people who most need to be mineral water healthy are small children, whose bodies are still developing. Dr. Zolton Rona, author of The Joy of Health, states that, “the longer one consumes distilled water, the more likely the development of mineral deficiencies and an acid state.” An acid state causes the body to pull from existing mineral sources, like teeth and bones, to bring itself into balance.

The trick to being mineral water healthy is to find home water purification systems that can get rid of dangerous toxins and bacterias, and leave in the naturally-occurring minerals. I’m happy to tell you that there are in-home water purification providers that focus on purity AND health. The most effective systems that I’ve found are based on multi-stage filtration. This method is the most effective at getting rid of what you don’t want and leaving in what you do want. Additionally, I’ve found these water purification systems to be quite affordable and easy to install and maintain.

So now that you know all this, your challenge is to become mineral water healthy. By drinking natural mineral water h20, you’re boosting your health the way nature intended. Don’t forget…you are what your drink!

shikha asked:

Natural mineral water

According to American and European Regional Codex Standard, natural mineral water:

is obtained directly from natural or drilled sources from underground water - bearing strata.

is collected under conditions which guarantee the original natural bacteriological purity.

is bottled at the point of emergence of the source with

particular hygienic precautions is not subjected to any chemical treatment.

Indian bottled Water Industry

The bottled water industry in India is estimated at about Rs 1,000 crore and is growing at 40 per cent. “By 2010, it will reach Rs 4,000 - 5,000 crore with 33 per cent market for natural mineral water.

The formal bottled water business in India can be divided broadly into three segments in terms of cost: premium natural mineral water, natural mineral water and packaged drinking water.

It is estimated that the global consumption of bottled water is nearing 200 billion litres - sufficient to satisfy the daily drinking water need of one-fourth of the Indian population or about 4.5 per cent of the global population at the fourth World Water Forum held in Mexico City in March 2006

In India, the per capita bottled water consumption is still quite low - less than five litres a year as compared to the global average of 24 litres. However, the total annual bottled water consumption has risen rapidly in recent times - it has tripled between 1999 and 2004 - from about 1.5 billion litres to five billion litres. These are boom times for the Indian bottled water industry - more so because the economics are sound, the bottom line is fat and the Indian government hardly cares for what happens to the nation’s water resources. Since 1991-1992 it has not looked back, and the demand in 2004-05 was a staggering 82 million cases.

Mineral Water Market in India

For example, the per capita consumption of mineral water in India is a mere 0.5-liter compared to 111 liter in Europe and 45-liter in USA.

But over the last ten years, it has witnessed tremendous growth. The change is very much evident. Once a product found mainly at railways stations, mineral water today occupies a place on the shelf in most superstores, grocers and even paanwalas. From a mere 60 towns in the year 1997, it is predicted that mineral water is today available in more than 1000 towns and cities across India. With a compounded annual growth rate of close to 30% over the last decade, the mineral water market has witnessed a large growth in terms of volumes.

The market is highly competitive with the entry of MNC’s like Pepsico and Coke. There are a lot of brands available in the market, each with its own proclaimed differentiation.

2.2 Player in the market

In natural mineral water there are very few company like Himalayan, Aava, Evian is playing in the market. 50% of the market is captured by Himalayan.

While a thousand bottled water producers, the Indian bottled water industry is big by even international standards. There are more than 200 brands, nearly 80 per cent of which are local.

Most of the small-scale producers sell non-branded products and serve small markets.

Despite the large number of small producers, this industry is dominated by the big players - Parle Bisleri, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Parle Agro, Mohan Meakins, SKN Breweries and so on.

Consumption of bottled water in India is linked to the level of prosperity in the different regions. The western region accounts for 40 per cent of the market and the eastern region just 10. However, the bottling plants are concentrated in the southern region - of the approximately 1,200 bottling water plants in India, 600 are in Tamil Nadu. This is a major problem because southern India, especially Tamil Nadu, is wate starved.

Mineral water business is restricted only to big hotels & Restaurants. This field has lot of scope because of unawareness in the market and people are becoming health conscious.

Steve Waters asked:

We did some research on the prices of drinking water filters for you.  At first glance, you might think that the really high priced units are the best quality or that a really low priced drinking water filter is the best value.  We thought that too, until we got a little education.

Reverse osmosis is the most expensive choice in drinking water filters    for home use.  They use them in large industries and public treatment facilities.  In certain situations, they are the right choice for the home, but most of us can do without them.

There best application is desalination, but without additional steps, the water is still not safe to drink.

The more reasonably priced drinking water filter    systems reach a top price of around $420.00.  They are typically some form of carbon filtration, combined with a micron filter and some sort of stage to balance mineral content and pH levels.

Practically the same drinking water filters can be purchased for less than $150.  The difference is mark-up.  Buying directly from the factory that manufactures the drinking water filter will save you hundreds of dollars.

For less than $150 and a dime a day, you can get one of the top ten rated drinking water filters, in the world.  These units are designed to sit on your counter, next to your sink.  They are more effective and less likely to leak than the units that screw directly onto the faucet.

There is typically an option to switch from filtered to unfiltered, in case you want to extend the filter life by doing dishes or washing vegetables in unfiltered water.  For cooking though, you will enjoy better tasting healthier foods, if you turn the drinking water filter to the “on” position.

You may be tempted by the really low priced drinking water filters that retail around $40.  We thought they might be a good reasonably priced alternative for a family on a budget.  We found that there were several problems.

Most are really chlorine filters, not purifiers.  Many harmful contaminants, such as THMs and VOCs, which have been linked to cancer, will not be blocked by the cheap models.  In some, the toxic metal lead is not removed.  Lead contamination is a big problem in many cities.  Not because the treatment facility isn’t doing their job, but because the pipes that run into the house are old.

Bacterial cysts are another type of contaminant that a cheaper drinking water filter cannot remove.  They can cause parasitic infections in the gastrointestinal tract and have been know to cause death in children, the elderly and people with a compromised immune system.

If that’s not enough, cheap drinking water filters cost more to use.  On average more than 20 cents per day, as opposed to the 10 cents per day that is available.  You see, they get you by charging a lower price initially, but then charging more for replacement filtration cartridges.  Or, the cartridge has a very short lifespan.  Either way, you end up spending more in the long run.

Ray Hamilton asked:

If you are like me, you probably know that we should all be drinking more water but we should specifically be mineral water healthy, by drinking mineralized water.

This doesn’t mean natural mineral water h20, your usual bottled water, as these have few regulations and, if not transferred across state lines, no FDA rules apply. It can be confusing as many people associate being mineral water healthy with only bottled water.

So why is mineral water healthy and what happens if we don’t drink it?

Water with minerals is essential to our health. Calcium among others keeps our teeth and bones strong, and others present such as magnesium and potassium are vital to our wellbeing.

If we only drink demineralized water, such as those from reverse osmosis filtration systems, or natural mineral water h20, then our bodies will pull these minerals from our teeth and bones by way of compensation. Many long term health problems can occur if we are mineral deficient, and not mineral water healthy.

Another fact to bear in mind is that recent studies have shown our bodies absorb minerals more effectively via water than food making it very important to drink not only more water, but the right water.

Nowhere on our planet has water ever existed without minerals. Today the water coming from our taps has an estimated 2100 chemical toxins in it, which can lead to cancer. Herbicide and pesticide use is on the increase and finding its way into our drinking water.

So the question isn’t really, is mineral water healthy, but how vital is it? I hope I have shown that for you.

To filter out all the dangerous contaminants, we need to protect ourselves with a high quality water filtration system that will leave in those vital minerals.

Look for a multi or twin filtration system that incorporates an activated carbon filter for the best results. These are proven to filter out an incredible 99% of all contaminants present in our tap water, leaving you with pure, clean, great tasting water, without any of the risk!

So there you have it, and I hope I have answered some of the questions you may have had about being mineral water healthy, and if you would like to find out which systems I recommend, why not go along to my website.
